Kontogiallos Beach, an Ideal Holiday Destination

There is a definitive difference between the East and West coasts of Corfu Island. No better or worse but experientially diverse. On the East coast the sun rises of course whereas on the West coast one catches the setting sun. The great thing about Corfu is that the island’s size allows you to experience both in the same day!

The west coast of Corfu Island is characterized by long sandy beaches that echo golden light in the setting sun. Kontos means short in Greek and although it is by no means a small beach Kontogiallos is shorter than its sister beach Glyfada to its immediate north.

Kondogiallos was a sixties haunt for many Scandinavian and other northern European countries who spent the summer long months living on the beach and making merry. Some even held their wedding ceremonies here and come back year after year. Today Kontogiallos is as popular amongst visitors as it is for Corfu Town locals.
