President Biden will head to an electrical employees union convention in Chicago following Wednesday, a White House formal announced on Thursday.
“NEXT WEDNESDAY: @POTUS will journey to Chicago, Illinois to attend the 40th @IBEW Global Convention,” Matt Hill, White Home senior associate communications director, tweeted, referring to the Intercontinental Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Previous month, Vice President Harris also satisfied with the electrical employees union for the duration of the Infrastructure Grassroots Work 7 days.
“We stand for earning investments in America’s long term and it will be built with union workers,” Harris stated for the duration of her physical appearance, according to the union. “Joe Biden and I know that IBEW members are performing every working day to make the long run of this place.”
A prime union team, the IBEW endorsed Biden in February 2020 as a then-applicant.
Biden’s travels occur shortly following the president, vice president and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh met with worker organizers as unionizing efforts acquire momentum at providers such as Starbuck and Amazon.
Walsh and Harris “held a roundtable dialogue with a numerous team of young, grassroots employee organizers to focus on their amazing initiatives to arrange unions in their workplaces, and how their efforts can encourage employees across the state to make the alternative to be a part of or arrange a union,” in accordance to the White Household readout.
“President Biden stopped by the dialogue and thanked the worker organizers for their leadership in arranging unions, the inspiration they supply to personnel throughout the country who might want to arrange, and their contributions to the worker organizing momentum that is increasing across the place,” the readout added.
